"You just do it. You force yourself to get up. You force yourself to put one foot before the other, and God damn it, you refuse to let it get to you. You fight. You cry. You curse. Then you go about the business of living. That’s how I’ve done it. There’s no other way."
Renowned for her large-scale aerial abstract works in ink, resin and acrylic, Melbourne based artist Megan Weston has been turning heads with her richly layered works on canvas, inspired in part by aerial photography.
Fascinated by her beautiful works and techniques, I found it extremely hard not to showcase every single piece. With quite a price tag, no two artworks are the same as they are inspired by technology and the images presented by satellites of the earth from a distance.
True to Megan’s style, “Icelandia” features topographical portraits working predominantly with her favoured medium of resin. This time focussing on the far north of the globe as her inspiration and subject. Glacial icy blues, deep emerald greens and colours found in flowers from the wildest of terrains have been masterly combined to create Megan’s version of Icelandia.
Megan’s work in situ at Fenton and Fenton. Cushion on chair (right) forms part of Megan’s new ‘Altitude’ range, and is digitally printed with photographs of Megan’s colourful studio floor.
One of Megan Weston’s fabulous artworks has been given a new lease of life and digitally printed to form a gorgeous canvas throw.
"Because it’s a silent profession, you have to dance louder, you have to dance clearer.. because you have to have a voice. All we have is ourselves. We are our own technology. We have to be the most that we can be without any artifice. How you dance is who you are."
